There are a couple of projects represented on this page. The first piece is an ode to our current quarantine. Symbolic aspects of my current experience are represented here.
Piece 1: This work in progress is a collage representing the various experiences and changes I've gone through due to the corona virus' impact on my daily life. I am walking everyday and exploring in the park behing my house – watching sunsets regularly. These colors have informed my palette for this piece.
Life in general has slowed down. I am actually enjoying fewer obligations. I am taking this time to focus on a more meditative experience. This tapestry depicts this experience.
I am knotting and weaving and concurrently dying the rope with organic dyes from food and drink that we are consuming – for example, red cabbage, red wine and rum.
As I come across new experiences, I document them and consider how I might incorporate them into this piece. For instance, I met this fellow on a walk and spent some time seeing things from his perspective.
Other inspirations, included my own chickens. I picked up some of their shedded feathers, and then proceeded to clean the feathers and old snail shells with soapy water, vinegar and witch-hazel.
I then took video of the swirling soap and feathers and shells. It was mesmerizing.
During my walks I have also come across fallen-branch forts. I built one of these 'homes' in a figurative isolation.
